Privacy Policy
Effective September 15, 2026
This policy explains how Recorded America (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you visit recordedamerica.com, contact us, or interact with services we operate through third-party platforms.
Information we collect
We may collect the following categories of information:
- Website activity. Our hosting and analytics providers may receive technical information such as IP address, browser and device type, referring page, pages viewed, approximate location, and interaction events.
- Information you provide. If you email or otherwise contact us, we receive the information in your message and the contact details you use.
- Connected-platform information. When we authorize our own social-media accounts, our publishing and advertising tools may access account, Page or profile, post, campaign, ad, and performance data that the platform makes available. Authentication credentials are used to operate those accounts and are not made public.
How we use information
We use information to:
- operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve our website;
- understand audience and content performance;
- respond to messages and requests;
- publish and promote Recorded America content and measure its performance; and
- comply with law and protect our rights and users.
Analytics, cookies, and similar technology
We use PostHog to understand how the site is used. PostHog may use cookies or similar browser storage and process usage data on our behalf. You can limit cookies through your browser settings, although doing so may affect some site functions.
Advertising and social platforms
We use services provided by Meta and X to publish content, promote our existing public posts, and review campaign performance. Those platforms process information under their own terms and privacy policies. We may select broad platform-provided criteria such as age and geographic area. We do not currently upload customer or contact lists to create advertising audiences.
How we share information
We do not sell personal information. We may share information with vendors that provide hosting, analytics, security, publishing, and advertising services; when required by law or legal process; to protect rights, safety, and security; or as part of a business transaction. Vendors may use information only as permitted by their agreements and applicable law.
Retention and security
We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described here, including legal, security, and operational needs. We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect information, but no transmission or storage method is completely secure.
Your choices and requests
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of certain personal information. To make a request, email cosmo@recordedamerica.com. We may need to verify your request before acting on it.
Meta platform data deletion
To request deletion of information obtained through a Meta product, email cosmo@recordedamerica.com with the subject “Meta data deletion request” and identify the Facebook Page or Instagram account involved. After verifying the request, we will delete data we control unless retention is required for security, legal, or recordkeeping purposes. You may also remove the app’s access in your Meta account settings.
