Recorded America

Terms of Service

Effective September 17, 2026

These terms govern your use of the Recorded America website and services we operate. By using these services, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using them.

About our services

Recorded America publishes original reporting based on public records and body-camera footage. Our website provides information about our work and links to our social-media channels. Our connected-platform tools help our authorized team manage those channels and understand performance.

Acceptable use

Use our services lawfully and respect the rights of others. Do not interfere with their operation, attempt unauthorized access, introduce malicious software, impersonate another person, or use our services to harass, threaten, or unlawfully disclose personal information.

Content and intellectual property

Our original writing, editing, branding, and website materials belong to Recorded America or their respective rights holders. You may view and link to our public content. Further use must comply with applicable copyright law and any permissions provided by the rights holder. Nothing in these terms limits fair use, other statutory rights, or use of material in the public domain. We do not claim exclusive ownership of underlying public records merely because we publish them.

Editorial information and corrections

Our content is provided for information and reporting, not professional advice. Records and reporting may be incomplete or change over time. An allegation or arrest does not establish guilt. To report a factual error, copyright concern, or privacy concern, contact us with the relevant link and details so we can review it.

Connected accounts and third-party platforms

Links and integrations may involve services such as TikTok, YouTube, Meta, and X. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies. Only people authorized to manage an account may connect it to our tools. Our TikTok integration reads authorized account information and public-video performance counters. With separate authorization, it uploads selected videos to the account’s TikTok inbox for the creator to review, edit, and publish. Uploading a draft does not publish or schedule it automatically. Account owners can revoke an integration through the platform’s account settings. We do not control third-party availability or practices.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle information and how to contact us about access or deletion requests.

Availability and warranties

To the extent permitted by law, our services are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted availability, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose. We may update, suspend, or discontinue features, including to address misuse or security issues.

Limits of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Recorded America is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses arising from use of, or inability to use, our services. These terms do not exclude liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms as our services change. Updated terms will be posted on this page with a new effective date and apply prospectively. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice or seek consent.
